The rare, annual releases from Mars are slowly becoming my favorite Japanese releases of the year, showcasing the talent of Japanese blending. The 100% malt whiskies from both Komagatake and Tsunuki distilleries are aged at the subtropical aging facility in Yakushima. Honey, sea salt, grilled pears, vanilla wafer and smokey oolong tea make for a thoughtful, soft sipper that will be a standout in any whiskey cabinet.
