Mars The Lucky Cat 'Hana & Choco' Japanese Whisky 700ml

The Mars Lucky Cat Series is always one of my favorite annual releases from this innovative Japanese whisky maker. While the prices of single malt Japanese whiskies continue to climb, The Lucky Cat series remains a standout for its masterful blending, offering exceptional quality at a more accessible price point. This year's 'Hana & Choco' blend is comprised of both malt and grain whiskies aged in a combination of casks, including ex-wine, ex-Oloroso & Spanish oak. On the nose, it offers a rich bouquet of cooked apricots, complemented by subtle root beer-like spices. The palate is a fun exploration of candied orange peel, clove, dried fruit and chocolate. The finish lingers with hints of spice and warmth, creating a balanced and satisfying dram. Japanese kaizen dips its toes in the sultry side of whisky.
